What was the most expensive dinner in the world?

Titled ‘Epicurean Masters of the World’ and billed as the world’s most expensive meal, the Dome Restaurant in Bankok, Thailand flew in six of the world’s best chef to cook an amazing and expensive 11 course meal.

Fifteen people who reserved seats joined 25 invited guests on February 10, 2007 to chow down on:

  • Course 1: Crème brûlée of foie gras with Tonga beans
    Accompanying Wine: 1990 Louis Roederer Cristal

  • Course 2: Tartar of Kobe beef with Imperial Beluga caviar and Belons oyster
    Accompanying Wine: 1995 Krug Clos du Mesnil

  • Course 3: Mousseline of pattes rouges crayfish with morel mushroom infusion
    Accompanying Wine: 2000 Corton-Charlemagne, Domaine Jean François Coche-Dury

  • Course 4: Tarte Fine with scallops and black truffle
    Accompanying Wine: 1996 Le Montrachet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

  • Course 5: Lobster Osso Buczco
    Accompanying Wine: 1985 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

  • Course 6: Ravioli with guinea fowl and burrata cheese, veal reduction
    Accompanying Wine: 1961 Château Palmer

  • Course 7: Saddle of lamb “Léonel”
    Accompanying Wine: 1959 Château Mouton Rothschild

  • Course 8: Sorbet “Dom Pérignon”

  • Course 9: Supreme of pigeon en croute with cèpes mushroom sauce and cipollotti
    Accompanying Wine: 1961 Château Haut-Brion

  • Course 10: Veal cheeks with Périgord truffles
    Accompanying Wine: 1955 Château Latour

  • Course 11: Imperial gingerbread pyramid with caramel and salted butter ice-cream
    Accompanying Wine: 1967 Château d’Yquem
